Treating a Diaper Rash

The first and best preventative method to protecting a baby against diaper rash is to keep the diaper area clean in the first plave. A baby diaper should be changed as soon as possible after it becomes soiled. Dirty diapers that are kept on too long are huge factors in diaper rash. Once your baby is cleaned and dried, apply some baby oil or powder to reduce the possibility of irritation. If your baby is especially prone to diaper rash, you may want to consider switching to cloth diapers. Disposable diapers are more likely to result in diaper rashes because there is not much room for air to circulate. Moreover, chemicals that increase absorbancy are added to disposable diapers in the production process - and this can lead to allergic reactions on the diaper area in some children.
